Topic: Targeting Gene Transcription by PROTAC for New Cancer Medicines

Host: Xiangbing Qi, Ph.D.

Abstract

Recently, proteolysis targeting chimera (PROTAC) has gained momentum for its enormous potential for discovery and development of an entirely new type of medicines for the treatment of human diseases, including but not limited to cancer. In this lecture, I will present our recent research efforts to target gene transcription by PROTAC for new cancer therapeutics. I will highlight the major differences between PROACT molecules and traditional small-molecule inhibitors and will discuss both the opportunities and challenges in the discovery and development of PROTAC-based drugs for the treatment of human diseases.
