Speaker: Yu Gao (高宇), Ph.D.

Research Associate,

Department of Chemical Physiology,

The Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, CA.

Topic:  A new era of proteomics: big data, single cell and multi-omics data integration

Host:   Mengqiu Dong, Ph.D.

Abstract

Since mass spectrometry-based proteomics became popular in the mid-90s, it has been one of the most powerful tools for the investigation of biological systems. However, it is also often associated with complicated data analysis and non-intuitive results. Fortunately, with the development of lab automation, high-performance computing, and next-generation sequencing technique, proteomics now becomes more accessible, reliable and powerful than ever before. In this talk, Dr. Gao will introduce some of the recent development of proteomics techniques developed by him and colleagues in the Yates lab, including data mining, single-cell proteomics, and multi-omics data integration.
