Speaker: Hong Chen, Ph.D.

Associate Professor

Harvard Medical School

Topic: Molecular Regulation of Epsin-Dependent Dysfunction

Host: Li-Lin Du, Ph.D.

Abstract

Graduating from Nankai University, Dr. Chen completed her PhD training at Yale Medical School and together with Dr. Pietro De Camilli, they generated a novel germline epsins 1 and 2 double knockout mouse line. As a PI now at Karp Family Research Laboratories at Harvard Medical School, her groups development of a number of novel conditional epsin mouse strains has aided in their detailed characterization of the roles and functions of epsins. Through these genetic approaches combined with an arsenal of biochemical and molecular and cellular techniques, her group continues in their research to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of epsin-dependent dysfunctions. Dr. Chen received the Irvine H. Page Young Investigator Research Award from the Arteriosclerosis Thrombosis and Vascular Biology, American Heart Association in 2013, and the Established Investigator Award from the American Heart Association in 2015. Dr. Chen is currently serving on the Arteriosclerosis Thrombosis and Vascular Biology Womans Leadership Committee.
